WITH GRANDMA, GRANDPA, OR SOMEONE WHO REMEMBERS
Color a visit with Abuela and Abuelo. Ask about a place they remember.
“What was the place where you grew up like?”
Invite a grandparent to describe a street, a home, or a favorite place from childhood. Draw one thing you can picture from their story.
Another way to connect
Explore the remembrance page with a trusted grown-up. If you wish, choose a happy family memory to share. Families remember and celebrate in different ways.
Make this moment your own. Every family has different memories, traditions, and experiences.

There is no single way to belong.
A child can begin with a familiar memory, a new question, or simple curiosity. A grandparent, parent, or another trusted grown-up can help bring the discoveries into conversation.
A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT WONDER
Little questions.
Helpful answers.
Who are the books for?
The first My Roots books are designed for ages 5–7. They combine coloring, puzzles, drawing, and cultural discoveries. A grown-up can help with reading and conversations; children can explore at their own pace.
Does my child need to know the culture or speak the language?
No. A child does not need to speak a particular language, have visited a place, or know every tradition to have a connection worth exploring. The books are in English and introduce some words from the featured culture.
Can grandparents join in?
Absolutely. Invite Grandma or Grandpa to share a childhood game, a recipe memory, or a story about a celebration. You can explore together in person or talk about a page on a call. An older relative or another trusted grown-up can share stories too.
Can my child use the book independently?
Many coloring and drawing activities can be explored independently. Some instructions, puzzles, and conversations benefit from a grown-up’s support. Follow your child’s interests and take the pages at a comfortable pace.
Are the pages in color?
The covers are in color. The printed interiors are black and white, ready for coloring and activities. Each of these first four books has 80 pages in an 8.5 × 11-inch paperback format. The colorful website scenes are adapted illustrations; the preview galleries show actual interior pages.
Can I give a book as a gift?
Yes. A book can be a meaningful gift from a grandparent, relative, or friend. Choose a culture connected to the child’s family, or one they are curious about. A personal memory or a note from you can make the gift especially meaningful.
Where can I buy the books?
The first four books are coming soon. Purchase links will appear here when they are available. Orders are not available on this website yet.
Will there be more cultures?
Yes. My Roots is a growing collection. These four books are the beginning, with more cultures and family stories to come. New titles will be added as they are ready.
